Description:<\/strong><\/p>

\u00c9lo\u00efse Lamarre and Rapha\u00eblle Ainsley-Vincent went to meet berry pickers in T\u00eate-\u00e0-la-Baleine, Pakua Shipi, Saint-Augustin, and Lourdes-de-Blanc-Sablon on the Lower North Shore (Quebec) to document this practice. \u201cOur approach is similar to picking itself. We followed the bright trail of berries in the bog to harvest their stories.\u201d – Rapha\u00eblle Ainsley-Vincent and \u00c9lo\u00efse Lamarre, artists.<\/p>

Through their photographs and the stories collected from the Coasters, the artists are helping to preserve a living, unifying heritage. With this exhibition, they hope to convey the pride that the Innu, French-speaking, and English-speaking communities of the region have in their know-how and way of life.<\/p>

The texts and photographs in the exhibition were collected in 2023-2024 \u201cfirst in the peat bogs, then in the kitchens, pickup trucks, boats, and cottages of the Coasters.\u201d People told them about miraculous harvests of the past, but also about a practice that has been weakened by climate change. The exhibition also showcases historical and archaeological artifacts from the Mus\u00e9e de la C\u00f4te-Nord.<\/p>
