{"id":6840,"date":"2024-06-13T11:30:11","date_gmt":"2024-06-13T15:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/museedelacotenord.ca\/le-musee-de-la-cote-nord-prend-de-nouvelles-couleurs\/"},"modified":"2025-09-02T14:27:24","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T18:27:24","slug":"le-musee-de-la-cote-nord-prend-de-nouvelles-couleurs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/museedelacotenord.ca\/en\/le-musee-de-la-cote-nord-prend-de-nouvelles-couleurs\/","title":{"rendered":"The Mus\u00e9e de la C\u00f4te-Nord takes on new colours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Mus\u00e9e de la C\u00f4te-Nord takes on new colours<\/strong><br \/>\nNew permanent exhibition, new brand identity<\/p>\n<p>Sept-\u00celes, June 21, 2024 \u2013 The Mus\u00e9e r\u00e9gional de la C\u00f4te-Nord team is proud to announce the pre-opening of our permanent exhibition <em>C\u00f4te-Nord \u2013 Stretches of Time<\/em> starting June 22<sup>nd<\/sup>, 2024. To mark this transition, a new brand identity is also being launched. The Mus\u00e9e r\u00e9gional de la C\u00f4te-Nord is becoming the Mus\u00e9e de la C\u00f4te-Nord.<br \/>\nThe Mus\u00e9e\u2019s team has been working on this transformation since 2021 in collaboration with museology firm Merlicht. The minist\u00e8re de la Culture et des Communications, the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 du Plan Nord and Heritage Canada all contributed generously to it. To complete the project\u2019s financial package, a campaign on the crowdfunding platform La Ruche also allowed the $70,000 target to be exceeded, thanks to more than 200 participants. An amount of $35,000 was also matched by the minist\u00e8re du Tourisme through its Fonds Horizons d\u2019ici.<br \/>\nThe last devices to be financed will be implemented in the autumn of 2024. An official opening will therefore be held during the autumn to thank the many partners of this magnificent project. The Mus\u00e9e team is extremely grateful for all support received.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New brand identity<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 56.25% 0 0 0; position: relative;\"><iframe style=\"position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;\" title=\"Teaser video \/ Image de marque \/ MCN\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/1005837972?h=91546928e4&amp;badge=0&amp;autopause=0&amp;player_id=0&amp;app_id=58479\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><script src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/api\/player.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ecoresponsible remodelling of the permanent exhibition room<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As the expenses for dismantling and remodelling the exhibition room did not qualify for the aforementioned programs, however, the Mus\u00e9e counted on the generous financial support of the Ville de Sept-\u00celes, in the amount of $154,000, and the Port of Sept-\u00celes, in the amount of $100,000. The deliberate deconstruction process for the previous exhibition, for its part, was financially supported by the organization Environnement C\u00f4te-Nord, in the amount of $10,000, including coaching for the firm Architecture sans fronti\u00e8res.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the renewal of the permanent exhibition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the Mus\u00e9e de la C\u00f4te-Nord, we wished to renew our permanent exhibition in order to tell the story of the C\u00f4te-Nord through the people who have visited it: Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, men and women, youth and seniors\u2026 That\u2019s why the new edition of the exhibition is revealing itself on the day after National Aboriginal Peoples Day! We needed some new people to help us tell this great shared story in new ways\u2013sustainable, sensory, immersive, interactive! Our pedagogical and cultural programming was also in dire need of a revamp. For this project, our team joined forces with museology firm Merlicht and their team of seasoned designers. For content selection, an advisory committee was established, comprised of various players from the C\u00f4te-Nord, whose experience ranges from the environment to museology in an intercultural context. This new experience is now open to all: the local and regional public, tourist visitors, cruise travellers, school pupils and students, etc. The experience was also designed from the ground up in alignment with our ecological and social values.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nAbout the minist\u00e8re de la Culture et des Communications\u2019 Call for projects to support permanent and travelling exhibitions<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This call for projects aims to support efforts to preserve, curate and showcase the most significant heritage items by encouraging updating or renewing permanent exhibitions and creating travelling exhibitions. It also aims to support museum institutions in fulfilling their mission and implementing their action plan. Agreement amount: $376,508.00.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Fonds d\u2019initiatives nordiques, from the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 du Plan Nord<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Fonds d\u2019initiatives nordiques is designed to support projects in the northern territory that promote community development, the development of the northern territory, and solutions derived from applied research.\u00a0 In our case, this support went towards improving pedagogical and cultural programming that will accompany the new permanent exhibition. Agreement amount: $80,000.00.<\/p>\n<p>About Heritage Canada\u2019s Digital Access to Heritage program<\/p>\n<p>Financial support offered to heritage organizations to digitize collections, develop digital content and build capacity in those areas. In our case, this financial support went towards 3D scanning a selection of our artifacts to improve access to them. Agreement amount: $267,708.00.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreserving and showcasing our cultural heritage plays an important role in the development of communities and their shared identity. Our partnership will help create new digital opportunities that are more accessible to the public of the C\u00f4te-Nord.
