JOB TITLE : VIEUX-POSTE ASSISTANT COORDINATOR
WORK LOCATION : Vieux-Poste de Sept-Îles

SALARY OFFERED : $20.32/hr with experience, skills, and recognition of skills and qualifications. The salary is calculated based on a maximum of 35 working hours per week.

SCHEDULE : Temporary part-time position, about 3 days per week (21 hr/wk), from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

DURATION : 3-month seasonal position (from Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day to Labour Day), with the possibility of working for up to 252 hours outside the summer season.

DUTIES
Collaborating with the coordination, handle the logistics for on-site operations, keep the activity schedule up to date and learn to interpret the history of the Vieux-Poste de Sept-Îles.

-Know the history and tourist attractions of the immediate region;
Based on established schedules, check and submit employees’ timesheets;
Plan and organize information meetings with employees about group visit schedules and special requests.

-Ensure guides are present in the various rooms and plan visit timing around late groups and cancelled bookings.

-Conduct external site visits (general history of the site and key topics).

-Educate visitors on the region’s heritage and tourist attractions.

-Attend work meetings about the visit schedule, and about any problems or challenges encountered in the course of duties for this position; host skill-building workshops with guides.
Carry out various related tasks to welcome visitors, ensure their comfort, keep the site clean and ensure it runs smoothly.

REQUIRED SKILLS
-College degree completed or underway, or at least one year of customer service experience.

-Bilingualism, or fluency in French and English, both spoken and written.

-Sharp customer service skills.

-Strong leadership, organization and management skills.

-Openness and authority when it comes to checking schedules, service quality and site cleanliness.

-Sense of initiative and independence.

-Public speaking skills.

-Ability to work effectively in a team.

-Openness to cultural differences.

DESCRIPTION OF ONBOARDING, INITIAL TRAINING AND WORKPLACE SUPERVISION
The work of these various roles will be directly managed by the Vieux-Poste coordination, which will ensure workplace preparedness, monitoring and quality of work throughout the contract period.
Supervisors will explain work methodologies and the preferred approach for all guided tours, and will train the job holder to respond appropriately to visitors’ questions.
The job holder will also receive hands-on training that should enable them to provide a personalized welcome experience to visitors, manage groups, provide a structured and pleasant visit experience, organize and run global site visits, and write attendance reports.
