Hélène Lejeune, also known by her artist name, Hélène Recycle, is an artisan born in Sept-Îles, on the Côte-Nord. From a young age, her environmental preservation values were passed on to her by her mother. Recycling, repair and reuse are concepts integral to Lejeune’s handicraft. Thanks to an ancient duvet crafting technique involving the recycling of old pieces of cloth, Lejeune creates original lampshades and fruit bowls. She stitches various pieces of fabric, then sews these patchworks into shapes of her choosing. In her spare time, Lejeune is also a jeweller. On her long walks along the various beaches of Sept-Îles, the artisan picks up all kinds of marvels left on the shore by the sea.
She breathes new life into empty shells, polished bits of wood and sea glass by turning them into magnificent earrings. Discover for yourself these ecoresponsible and original creations by Hélène Recycle at the Musée de la Côte-Nord, in the Ô Muses store!
