In 2018, the Musée de la Côte-Nord adopted the ecoresponsibility standards set by the Société des musées québécois (SMQ) and has implemented them to the best of its resources and abilities. The ecoresponsibility policy applies to the whole organization and to all of its visitors.

The Société des musées québécois (SMQ) also offers a sustainability charter tailored to the specifics of museum institutions. The aim of the charter is to demonstrate and strengthen museum institutions’ commitment to sustainability, based on certain guidelines inherent in their mission. It also follows in the footsteps of Québec’s Agenda 21 for culture, implemented by the ministère de la Culture et des Communications. 

This charter reflects the SMQ’s stance on sustainability. Members adopting this charter, on a voluntary basis, is a meaningful gesture of commitment. The Musée is very glad to announce its adoption of the charter by resolution of its board of directors. The commitments undertaken to that end set, de facto, the sustainability guidelines that will steer the Musée’s action during its next strategic action planning cycle.
